A man residing in North Kildare was fined at Naas District Court for a public disorder offence in Kildangan.

Judge Desmond Zaidan decided to fine Adam Ciecko, of Willow Brook, Primrose Gate in Celbridge, on Thursday, January 4 last for the offence.

Gardaí said that the 46-year-old committed the offence on December 16 last in the Abbotts Wood region of Kildangan.

Specifically, gardaí said that at around 1.05am, Mr Ciecko was seen attempting to cycle a bike while drunk.

When he was confronted by gardaí, he became verbally abusive to gardaí, spat at one of them and tried to resist arrest.

The court was told by gardaí that Mr Ciecko has 41 previous convictions, 34 of which are for public disorder.

Defending solicitor Tim Kennelly told Judge Zaidan that his client struggles with alcoholism.

He also said that he was 'surprised and disappointed' by the offences committed by his client.

"I’ve represented him before, but obviously, this is disgusting behaviour," he added.

Judge Zaidan decided to convict Mr Ciecko on the resisting arrest charge and fined him €750, to be paid within three months.

He took the other offences into consideration as part of his verdict.
