The Kildare and West-Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) has released an urgent appeal in relation to wet dog food.
Explaining the appeal, the KWWSPCA said on its official Facebook page: "The KWWSPCA's stock of wet dog food (tins and pouches) and sardines in oil (which most dogs love) is running very low and if anyone would like to donate some, we would be very grateful.
"Any brand will do, and it can be left outside the shelter gate or taken to the KWWSPCA charity shop in Newbridge."
The group added: "While most of our dogs enjoy a diet of mainly dry kibble, others are a little more difficult to please and we find that the wet dog food and/or sardines helps to encourage them to eat."
The KWWSPCA also shared a photograph of one dog at the shelter, Katie, 'who loves dry kibble, but also enjoys a little bit or meat or sardine mixed in with her kibble from time to time.'
