It will be ‘challenging’ to install two new bus shelters at Dag Welds Cross, Kildare County Council (KCC) has said.

The bus shelters were being sought by Social Democrats councillor Aidan Farrelly at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was held on Friday, April 5 last.

He motioned for KCC to request the two shelters from the National Transport Authority (also known as the NTA).

Cllr Farrelly’s motion was supported by Independent Cllr Pádraig McEvoy.

KCC told Cllr Farrelly via its report at the meeting: "The design of an upgrade for this junction will include the examination of the provision of improved bus stop infrastructure.

"This is being progressed by the Road Design Section."

KCC also said to Cllr Farrelly: "It would be very challenging to install any additional facilities at this location in a safe manner with the current layout of the carriageway and junction."

Cllr Aidan Farrelly of the Social Democrats told the council that he wished to see the two shellters installed at Dag Welds Cross (File photograph).
