Can you keep up with this kickboxer? Martial arts champion preparing for three events this Summer

A young champion kickboxer is preparing to participate in three separate fighting events this Summer.

Shane Allison, who is from Ballybritas in County Laois and who goes to St Paul's Secondary School in Monasterevinhas been continuing his martial arts success.

Having just turned 18, Shane travelled with the National Taekwondo Team to compete in the ITF Taekwondo European Championships in Lublin, Poland from April 16 last to April 21 last.

Now, in addition to preparing for his Leaving Certificate exams, Shane has three upcoming events as a martial artist.

Shane is on the fight card at the Elite Kickboxing Show taking place in Clontarf later this month.

Then, in July, Shane will head to the Budo League in Liverpool to compete for a World Title.

Lastly, in August, Shane will compete with the National Team at the WAKO World Championships in Budapest, where he will compete in two sections: Light Contact and Kick Light.

Shane juggles a very tight schedule between his school work and training, and his schedule was truly pushed to its limits over the past year.

Here is a quick round-up of the events that Shane has taken part in:

European Championship Taekwondo – Romania April 2023

  • -75kg Individual Sparring ITF European Champion
  • He competed against Netherlands, Sweden, Croatia, Norway and Romania

World Championship Taekwondo – Finland September 2023 

  • -75kg Individual Sparring ITF World Champion
  • Competed against England, Finland, Scotland, Argentina, Australia and Romania.

November 2023

  • -75kg Sparring National Champion at the ITA Taekwondo Irish Open
  • Shane was also awarded the Junior Male Competitor of the Year at the inaugural ITA Gala Awards Night

December 2023 – Liverpool

  • Shane competed in his first full contact fight which was in the ring.
  • He battled through 5 tough rounds and by unanimous decision became the -75kg WMO International Champion. 

February 2023

  • -75kg Sparring National Champion and Special Technique National Champion at the ITA Taekwondo Munster Open

March 2024

  • -75kg National Champion in both Kick Light and Light Contact at the KBI Kickboxing All Ireland Championship
  • Shane was invited to take part in the first Budo Combat League event in Stoke On Trent on St Patrick’s weekend.
  • He was announced as the -75kg Sparring champion for his event, winning by TKO in 3rd round.
  • -75kg Sparring National Champion and Special Technique National Champion at the ITA Taekwondo Dublin Open

April 2024 – Took his 2nd European Title in Taekwondo – Poland

  • -75kg Individual Sparring ITF European Champion
