Man took ex-partner's phone and distributed intimate pictures of her

CRIMEFILE: Gardai in Limerick issue warning as thieves 'target' smart phones

A man took a phone belonging to his ex-partner and later distributed intimate pictures of her to members of her family, it was alleged at a sitting of Naas District Court.

The man is aged in his early 20s.

According to the gardaí the injured party was sitting on a bench in a Kildare town when the defendant began shouting at her and tried to take her phone off her.

She was reportedly pushed to the ground and the phone was taken.

The defendant was prosecuted for criminal damage as well as distributing the images.

The injured party was not in court for the brief hearing, during which reporting restrictions were imposed by Judge Desmond Zaidan to protect the identity of the injured party.

The court was also told that the matter is being contested by the defendant.

The case was adjourned to March 19 and the defendant was remanded on continuing bail.
