According to KCC, initial work to remove some of the bollards on the ring road has taken place, including at the  Kerry Group HQ to Newhall roundabout and on the Caragh Road Section.

KCC official Simon Wallace said the work to date cost €20,000.

“Any further work would require (an) additional budget,” he said in a report to a Naas Municipal District committee meeting. He said funds will have to be sourced for tree planting. He said it may be necessary to phase the work “particularly with any proposed planting.”

He said the removal of additional timber bollards will have to be assessed and “it may not be possible or appropriate to plant all areas with trees if bollards are removed.”
