Woman tells Kildare court that partner 'choked and beat her'

A woman claimed at a Naas District court sitting that her partner had choked her and had beaten her the day before the hearing.

The woman was seeking protection under family law legislation from the man, who did not appear for the hearing and was not represented.

The woman also claimed that he was using her car without her consent.

She also claimed he is very aggressive, had slapped her and she sustained bruising around an eye.

Judge Desmond Zaidan  granted a protection order and adjourned the matter for a fuller hearing on September 16.

He also said that because the man lives at her address the gardaí would serve the order on him.
