Darragh Ryan in action for table-toppers Sarsfields
The final round of the 2025 Hanlon Concrete LTD Senior Football League Division 1 has arrived and here is your breakdown of what could unfold this weekend in Kildare's top tier.
Maynooth, Sarsfields, and Naas have already secured a top four finish and subsequent semi-final spots after impressive campaigns. The semi-finals will be based on position 1 v 4 and 2 v 3, at neutral venues and positions could shift through the weekend.
The fourth and final spot is where the jeopardy lies but it is all in the hands of Sallins who sit on 12 points with Celbridge, Clane, and Athy behind on 10 points.
Clane are out of the picture, having lost to Sallins earlier in the year but Celbridge and Athy would both leap Sallins based on head to head if one were to win and Sallins to lose. If Sallins were to lose and both chasing teams won, Celbridge would move above Athy in the fourth spot having taken an 0-26 to 0-14 win away from Geraldine Park in mid-May.
Despite losses to the other two, Sallins remain massive favourites to secure that fourth spot after a really strong Division 1 campaign and they face Allenwood in Round 11, who are propping up the table with not a single point earned after 10 consecutive defeats. All three contenders have home fixtures, with Celbridge facing second-place Maynooth while Athy tackle Moorefield.
With Allenwood far adrift, Leixlip sit in the other relegation spot and, despite being just two points back from Moorefield and St Laurences, are set to join Allenwood in Division 2 for 2026 having suffered losses to both The Moores and Larries earlier this year. Leixlip face Raheens at home on the final day while Moorefield have Athy and St Laurences visit Naas.
