Manguard Park, Hawkfield on Sunday, July 13
Three matches, Maynooth v Moorefield, Leixlip v St Laurences, and Coill Dubh v Ardclough, all faced unusual conditions for their Kildare Senior Hurling Championship clashes in Manguard Park, Hawkfield on Sunday.
"I have never seen a sliothar bounce like that," said one player on the sideline during Maynooth v Moorefield.
Manguard Park has been an immaculately maintained venue for Kildare GAA games and was pivotal in recent years during the St Conleth's Park rebuild, but the heat wave appears to have taken its toll on the Centre of Excellence's pitches and conditions definitely added an extra spring to the bounce of the ball over the weekend.
