A cracking Joe Mallon SFC Preliminary Round saw Raheens get the better of parish rivals Caragh in a cracking contest at Cedral St Conleth's Park, this afternoon (Sunday 10 August).

It was Pride of the Parish stuff from start to finish with Caragh last season's IFC and Leinster Club champions leading by two 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.

A Daire Gilmartin two-pointer tied up the game on 35 and a second from man-of-the-match Jack Taaffe had Raheens ahead by two but back came Caragh with substitute Josh Gannon finding the net to retake the lead  by a point.

Raheens regained initiative when Taaffe filled the Caragh net, it was a lead they never lost with Paddy Woodgate putting the icing on the cake with a late goal, set up by Jack Taaffe.

Final score: Raheens 2-17 Caragh 1-15.

Scorers: Raheens, Jack Taaffe 1-6 (1 two-pointer), Paddy Woodgate 1-4 (1 free), Daire Gilmartin 0-2 (two-pointer), Dara Crowley 0-2, Luke O'Donovan 0-2, Conor Kelly 0-1.
