Kildare SFC: Celbridge put down a marker against Athy

A three minute spell in time added on in the opening half saw Celbridge Aaron Browne, single-handedly, put Athy to the sword with an impressive 1-2 brining his total up to 1-6 for the half to ensure last season's beaten finalists got their first win in the group, having drawn their opening game against Johnstownbridige.

Celbridge began impressively openng up a four point lead before Athy hit back to level on 26 minutes but then in stepped Aaron Browne to leave the half-time score reading Celbridge 1-8 Athy 0-5.

Athy hit five windes in the opening nine minutes and with that any chance they had simply faded away as Celbridge played things tight but calm as they held out without too much fuss or bother to win this Group A, Round 2 clash on a final score line of Celbridge 1-13 Aethy 0-10.
