Three Newbridge councillors, Chris Pender (Social Democrats), Peggy O’Dwyer (Fine Gael) and Tracey O’Dwyer (Fine Gael), have come together to host an additional public engagement event on the Draft Newbridge Settlement Plan.
The councillors noted that while Kildare County Council’s official consultation session in Cedral Park was very successful, the timing and location may have made it difficult for some people to attend.
By organising this second event, they hope to ensure that everyone in the community has a fair opportunity to view the plans, ask questions and share their views.
Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer stressed the importance of community involvement:
“The time has come to ‘Have Your Say’ about Newbridge. This document is a key component on the future development of Newbridge and needs your input.”
Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer highlighted one of her priorities within the plan: “The proposed Newbridge Settlement Plan is an opportunity to put forward your views and suggestions for the future development and design of Newbridge town. I am delighted to see a focus on amenity lands and this will be one area I am keen to pursue.”

Cllr Chris Pender emphasised the scale of what is being considered: “I have spent the last week digging through the details of this plan, from zoning maps to infrastructure delivery and regeneration sites. This is not just about buildings, it is about how Newbridge grows as a community. That is why it is so important that local voices are heard and included in shaping the town’s future.”
Details of the additional public engagement event:
Saturday 4th October 2025
10:00am to 3:30pm
Newbridge Town Hall
The Draft Settlement Plan sets out the framework for how Newbridge will grow in the years ahead, including housing, schools, community facilities, green spaces, transport links and the regeneration of underused town centre sites.
The councillors encourage residents to attend, view the maps and plans in detail, and make their voice heard.
