The benches located outside of a well-known arts centre in County Kildare is due to be replaced, Kildare County Council (KCC) has said.
The replacement of the benches was queried by Fine Gael councillor Peggy O'Dwyer at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, September 17 last.
She specifically asked KCC if the seats located in front of the Riverbank Arts Centre, which is located in Newbridge, would be replaced.
In response to her question, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The street furniture referred to in the question was installed during Covid with a view to replacing them with more permanent structures, subject to funding availability."

"[The] Strategic Projects and Public Realm [Department] (SPPR) are aware that works have been carried out over time by the Municipal District office to extend the life of the furniture which is no longer viable. "
KCC added: "SPPR have procured two benches for the area providing more permanent seating; they are expected to be installed in the coming months."
Cllr O'Dwyer told KCC that she accepted its report.
In other Riverbank-related news, an update was also given by KCC at the aforementioned Municipal District meeting in relation to its plans for the arts centre.
