The construction of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has been proposed for a site near the Kildare-Meath border.
A planning permission application which was submitted to Kildare County Council for consideration shows that Bronto Storage Limited wants to construct the BESS at Dysart near Enfield.
Specifically, the company is seeking 10 years worth of planning permission for the provision of the BESS, as well as the "compound on a site of circa 1.015 hectares to support the adjacent permitted solar farm (KCC Reg. Ref.: 161265)".
The application notes that this BESS compound would accommodate self-contained Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries within 18 BESS units, four twin skid units and a single skid unit.
In addition, a control room (measuring in at circa 27.6 square metres) has been proposed to the east of the compound.
