Speeding vehicle on Kildare's N7 had no tax or insurance

Last Saturday evening (October 4), Naas Roads Policing Unit, Kildare conducted a high-visibility speed checkpoint on the N7 in tough driving conditions.

They detected a vehicle travelling at 128 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

When the vehicle was stopped, checks through #Mobility live insurance data showed that the driver had no valid insurance.

  • The vehicle was seized on the spot.

  • A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) was issued for Speeding and Tax.

The driver will face court proceedings for driving without insurance.

Penalties:

The driver is now subject to a €160 fine and three penalty points on conviction. They must also pay a €60 for driving with no valid tax.

They also face up to a €5,000 fine, a court appearance, five penalty points, and disqualification from driving for having no valid insurance.

A message from An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “Driving without insurance and exceeding the speed limit puts everyone at risk. Our Roads Policing Units continue to carry out checkpoints to keep our roads safe.
