Planning permission sought for 'change of use to accommodation' in Kildare Town

A planning application has been submitted to Kildare County Council for change of use to accommodation for an address at Silken Thomas, Market Square, Kildare Town, Co Kildare.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), planning application number 2561150 was submitted to the local authority by Studio One Film Exhibitors Limited for consideration on October 10 2025.

The €129k scheme comprises permission for:

  • The change of use of existing first floor offices over existing public bar to proposed new bedroom accommodation, linked to a proposed new single storey bedroom accommodation block constructed over the existing external first floor seating and smoking area to the rear of first floor offices.

  • The alterations will include the construction of bedroom accommodation over existing first floor area, with three bedrooms to existing first floor office area, and six bedrooms to proposed new first floor construction,

  • Alterations/reconfiguration of existing first floor offices.

  • On-street access to bedrooms via existing front elevation and internal access via Silken Thomas first floor.

  • Plaque advertising signage to street entrance, and all associated internal and external alterations to accommodate the proposed development.

The architect for the project is Daly Hudson Building Surveying and Architecture.
