A woman aged in her 50s who was tragically killed in a house fire which occurred in Kildare over the weekend has been named locally.
Orla Wilson, an employee of Kildare County Council (KCC), died following a fire which broke out at a property in Kildangan on Saturday night.
The fire caused extensive damage to the roof of the bungalow.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal fire at a residential property in County Kildare, on Saturday, October 11 last.
"A woman in her 50s, the sole occupant of the house, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Fire services extinguished the fire."

The spokesperson also said that the woman’s body has since been removed from the scene to Naas Mortuary.
"A post-mortem examination is due to be conducted," they added.
The Leinster Leader understands that An Garda Síochána currently does not suspect foul play in relation to this incident.
In addition, the Leader contacted KCC for comment in relation to the incident.
A spokesperson for KCC responded: "Kildare County Council can confirm that Kildare Fire Service was alerted to a domestic fire near Duneany Crossroads, Kildangan at approximately 11.14pm on October 11 last.
"Appliances from Monasterevin and Athy Fire Stations were dispatched to the scene, along with the rostered senior fire officer on call."
The spokesperson continued: "The Monasterevin fire crew was first in attendance at the scene.
"Upon their arrival, they quickly established the presence of a female casualty within the property."
They concluded: "The casualty was removed from the property and was later pronounced deceased at the scene."
KCC currently has a dedicated space inside its headquarters (Áras Chill Dara in Devoy Park, Naas) in memory of the late Orla Wilson.
