A shop located in South Kildare may be converted into an apartment in the near future.

Applicant Charlotte Lawler has applied for planning permission from Kildare County Council to convert the shop, which is located on 26 Leinster Street in Athy, into a residential unit.

According to the description of the application, she intends to make "alterations and refurbishment of the ground floor unit to comprise of one one-bedroom apartment, including all ancillary site development works above and below ground".

Ms Lawler is also seeking the "part removal of the existing single storey rear return".

The date received on the application is listed as October 14 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as November 17, 2025 and December 8, 2025.
