“vicious” cold snap in the second week of January saw temperatures plunge.

The final week of the month brought hurricane-force winds as Storm Éowyn took out power lines across the county, yet life continued.

Naas Musical Society kicked off their year with a bonkers bingo fundraiser while “a tiny forest” was planted in Naas.

Spring brought brighter days, as thousands gathered in Kildare to celebrate St Brigid.

April saw the death of Mick O'Dwyer, a man who brought such joy to Kildare with his football management exploits.

Sports editor, Tommy Callaghan reflects on his legacy. Balyna First Responders learned life saving skills, while

Newbridge Musical Theatre prepared for it's production of The Witches of Eastwick.

Punchestown experienced record breaking crowds, Dancing with the Star's Arthur Gourounlian created an online dance video for Newbridge Silverware, and there was a colour extravaganza as June Fest exploded into action.

Summer brought it's own sense of pride as Kildare hurlers made history with victory in the Joe McDonagh Cup, earning them a place in the big leagues for the first time ever.

The footballers also claimed silverware, with a win over Fermanagh to clinch the Tailteann Cup.

Fashion and top quality racing were the order of the day at the Irish Derby Festival, while September saw a celebration of music and community spirit with Féile na Sollán.

Glamour and style shone out at the Christmas party of the year at the Keadeen Hotel in November, while Newbridge paid tribute to husband and wife principals, Joe and Caitlin O'Connor on their retirement.

As 2025 draws to a close, we look forward to the festive season, featuring a full listing of Christmas and New Year events, as well as a glimpse of what 2026 has in store.
