The lack of lighting on one County Kildare street "is not helping" with the presence of antisocial behaviour there.
The claim was made by Social Democrats councillor Paula Mulroe at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, December 5 last.
While in attendance at this meeting, Cllr Mulroe motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to "conduct a full review and maintenance in Prosperous, in particular, the areas of the Main Street and Anne Street".
Her motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr William Durkan.

Speaking further on her motion, she emphasised to KCC that she had concerns regarding the presence of antisocial behaviour on Anne Street, and alleged that the lack of lighting there "is not helping" the situation there (Following the meeting, Cllr Mulroe clarified to the Leinster Leader: "I don't want to imply that it was residents of Anne Street, as we don't know for sure who was involved").
Replying to Cllr Mulroe's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting that it has initiated a review of this section of the road.
According to KCC, this will include:
KCC added: "Please note that while we are committed to addressing these concerns, implementation of any recommended improvements will be subject to available budget allocations."
