Naas Community Gardaí, Kildare were on patrol in the town on Sunday, December 21 when Student Garda Monteiro observed two vehicles parked in a disabled parking bay.

One vehicle was unattended, and the driver of the second stated he was “just waiting for a friend”.

Both the driver and the owner of the unattended vehicle were issued €150 fixed charge notices by Garda Smyth.

A Garda spokesperson said: “We take a zero-tolerance approach to the misuse of disabled parking bays. These spaces are not for drop-offs, pick-ups, or waiting. They are limited in number and are vital for those who genuinely need them.

Let’s all play our part and keep this festive season accessible for everyone.”
