Local Minister James Lawless TD has confirmed the announcement of €239,040 in funding for remedial and upgrade works at the Clane Playground recreational space, secured under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

The funding for the Kildare project was announced today by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, as part of a €26 million national investment supporting 116 projects across communities.

“This funding is very positive news for Clane. This is a vital recreational space for families and children, and this investment will ensure it is upgraded, safe, accessible and fit for the future. Importantly, it reflects the priorities identified locally through the Town Centre First process,” Minister Lawless said.

The Town and Village Renewal Scheme supports projects that rejuvenate town centres, increase footfall, tackle vacancy and dereliction, and improve public and recreational spaces. This funding demonstrates what can be achieved when communities and local authorities work together to deliver real improvements,” Minister Lawless added.

€24.4 million has been allocated nationally under the main scheme, with a further €1.85 million supporting project development to ensure a strong pipeline of future regeneration initiatives.
