The presence of "litter and detritus" near a special school in County Kildare have been highlighted by a local rep.
Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender raised the matter at the most recent Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Wednesday, December 17 last.
The discussion came about when Cllr Pender motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to "arrange a site meeting between the MD Engineer and the students and teachers of St Mark’s Special School to discuss the traffic, access, and safety issues raised by the school community, and that a report on agreed actions be brought back to the next MD meeting".
His motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer.
Responding to his motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The MD Office can meet with representatives of St Mark’s Special School to discuss road safety issues."

"However, there is currently no funding available to carry out any potential road safety improvement works at this location," KCC added.
Speaking further on his motion, Cllr Pender told KCC that he had received around 12 letters from students in relation to the issues in the area.
He also said: "I don't think that it would require a massive budget [to remedy the issues there]."
Cllr Pender further specified that he had concerns about "litter and detritus" in the region.
This prompted a representative of KCC, who was also in attendance at the meeting, to give an assurance to Cllr Pender that they would meet with him on site to discuss the matter further.
