An Garda Síochána (AGS) has issue a renewed appeal over a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in Kildare town.

The appeal was announced by Garda Shane Smyth on behalf of AGS when he appeared on KFM yesterday morning (January 7 last).

Gda Smyth, who appeared a guest on one of the station's programmes, briefly described the incident in which a man aged in his 40s lost his life.

The identity of the deceased has not been publicly disclosed.

He explained that the fatal collision occurred on December 30 last at around 6pm, on the Kildare town to Monasterevin road, also known as the R445.

He said that anyone who has information relating to this incident and / or has dashcam footage of the incident is urged to contact AGS (the Kildare town Garda Station number is 045 527 730).

ORIGINAL STATEMENT

According to the original announcement from AGS, the fatal collision involved a car and a pedestrian and occurred at approximately 6pm on the R445, leaving Kildare town in the direction of Monasterevin.
 
No other injuries have been reported.
 
The road was temporarily closed between Monastervin and Kildare town, with local diversions temporarily put in place.

A technical examination was also conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators.
