The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration has revealed the number of International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) applicants (asylum seekers) currently being housed in Co Kildare.
According to latest figures, there are 549 IPAS applicants being housed in Co Kildare as of w/e 14/12/2025 (down from 575 being housed in Co Kildare as of 22/6/2025.)
This compares to Laois (480 IPAS applicants) and Carlow (416 IPAS applicants) for the same period.
In a report dated 19/12/2025, the Department gave a weekly breakdown of total IPAS arrivals (nationwide.)
For the week ending 14/12/2025, there were a total of 252 arrivals, an average of 36 arrivals per day.

This was broken down into Single Males: 140 (56%); Single Females: 30 (12%); Couples: 30 (12%); Children: 44 (17%); and Lone Parents: 8 (3%).
In terms of nationality, the highest number (55) came from Somalia, followed by Nigeria (34), Pakistan (31), Afghanistan (26), Bangladesh (17), Georgia (16), Zimbabwe (9), Palestine (7), Algeria (5), Sudan (5), and Other (47).
There are currently a total of 313 IPAS centres nationwide, housing a total of 32,921 IPAS applicants, of whom 9,679 are children.
