On Wednesday, February 18 during its 'Day of Action – Slow Down Day', An Garda Síochána Kildare asked motorists to make one simple choice: slow down.
Sadly, that message was ignored by some motorists.
One motorist was detected travelling at 116km/h in a 60km/h zone on the R407 Painstown by Naas Roads Policing Unit.

A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “That is not a minor lapse in judgement. That is dangerous driving.
“At that speed, there is no room for reaction. No time to stop. No margin for error. On a regional road where families travel, where people walk, cycle, and live — this behaviour puts everyone at risk.”
The driver was arrested, charged with dangerous driving, and will now appear before the courts.
The spokesperson added: “Speed limits are not suggestions. They are there to protect lives.
If you choose to ignore them, we will take action. Slow down. Arrive alive.”
