Repairs are on the way to the damaged Carnalway Bridge, according to Kildare County Council (KCC).

The answer was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, February 18 last.

It was given in response to a question which was submitted by Fine Gael councillor Tracey O'Dwyer.

Her query read as follows: "Can KCC confirm if a survey has been carried out on Carnalway Bridge, following the recent collision during icy weather and advises on recommendations and next steps?"

In response to her question, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "KCC has arranged for the damage to the bridge parapet to be repaired by our bridge contractor as soon as possible."

"As many of the existing capstones will be used during the repair as possible," KCC added.

Following this, Cllr O'Dwyer told KCC that she accepted the report.

She also noted that repair crews are currently working on repairing Carnalway Bridge.
