Uisce Éireann (UE) has been asked to outline the need for certain water-related works in one County Kildare estate.

The activities were queried by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, February 18 last.

The subject was initially raised when she submitted the following question to Kildare County Council (KCC): "Can the council outline the need for repeated jetting works of sewage drains in Dara Park, Newbridge?"

Her query follows long-standing reports of issues related to sewage, water quality and accessibility in the region.

In response to Cllr O'Dwyer's question, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting that the matter would be referred to UE with the members agreement.

After a brief discussion, it was agreed that KCC would send a letter containing Cllr O'Dwyer's query to UE.
