The Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted a multi-agency checkpoint operation recently in North Kildare.
Working alongside the Road Safety Authority, Revenue Commissioners and the Health and Safety Authority, the operation delivered significant results.
Throughout the course of these checkpoints, 10 vehicles were seized for having no tax, insurance or NCT and three unaccompanied learner drivers were also stopped by gardaí.
Four fake driving licences were seized and along with this, a total of 31 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices were issued for a variety of offences.

One van was found to be over 1.5 tonnes overweight and the driver was directed to remove the excessive load before continuing the journey.
A HGV was discovered to have three worn tyres and gardaí prohibited the vehicle from being driven until these were replaced.
It did not stop here as a further two vehicles were seized for no insurance while travelling to and from the checkpoints.
187 drivers were tested for alcohol and drugs on the roadside, all results were negative.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in the county said on social media, “These checkpoints are about keeping our roads safe for everyone. Driving without insurance, using fake documentation or operating unsafe vehicles puts all road users at risk. We will continue to work with our partner agencies to ensure compliance and road safety across the district.”
