You may not think it given the typical state of Irish weather, but solar panels can actually work perfectly fine even when it is not particularly sunny.

In fact, in Ireland, 75 per cent of the energy generated from a solar photovoltaic system will take place between May and September — although we have a moderate climate, our Summers are generally quite decent.

Given this information, it can seem more appealing to the average person to look into the possibility of installing solar panels in their home.

And if you are such a person, who also happens to be based in County Kildare, then you are in luck, as a green energy information event is coming soon to one Kildare library.

Kildare County Council (KCC) has announced that the upcoming 'Solas and Savings' event will teach help members of the public to understand the potential of solar energy solutions, as well as other forms of green energy solutions.

According to KCC, the event will include a presentation on Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) grants, an explanation on group purchase discounts, "and much more".

"This is a pop-in event, so no booking is required," KCC added.

'Solas and Savings' will take place inside Naas Library and Cultural Centre this Saturday, March 7, 2026.

It will begin at 10am and conclude at 1pm.

KCC is hosting this event in association with Kildare Climate Action Office, SEAI and Life Credit Union.
