Saraid Hartnett from Newbridge, Co. Kildare, has been crowned the winner of Ireland's Favourite Child, taking home an incredible €10,000 in ALDI gift cards, which includes €5,000 for herself and €5,000 for her mam, Helen.
The feel-good competition called on people nationwide to nominate themselves or a sibling and prove they were the true ‘golden child’ at home. 1000’s of entries poured in from every county, celebrating the meaningful gestures that make Irish Mams proud, from showing up to Sunday dinner, making the perfect cup of tea or lending a hand without being asked.
The campaign was officially kicked off by Baz Ashmawy and his mum Nancy Ashmawy, who took to the streets of Dublin, encouraging members of the public to call their mam on the spot and tell her just how much she means to them. This heartfelt moment setting the tone for a nationwide search.
Speaking about her new title Saraid said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be crowned Ireland’s Favourite Child, and I definitely have some bragging rights at home now. My mam does so much for me every day, so it means the world to be able to give something back and treat her this Mother’s Day.”
Those hoping to follow in their footsteps this Mother’s Day can find plenty of gift inspiration in ALDI stores nationwide, where a wide range of thoughtful gifts and flowers are available ahead of Sunday.
