Kildare County Council (KCC) has revealed that it is "unable to expand street cleaning works" in one Municipal District (MD) due to budget constraints.
The admission was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge MD meeting, which took place on Wednesday, March 18 last.
It was given in response to a question which was submitted by Independent councillor Pat Balfe.

Cllr Balfe's question read as follows: "Can KCC provide details of the current schedule and locations for street
cleaning services within the MD, including the frequency of cleaning in towns and villages, and whether there are plans to expand or adjust the programme in response to local needs?"
Replying to Cllr Balfe's query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "Street cleaning takes place in the towns of Newbridge, Kildare, Monasterevin, Kilcullen and Rathangan on a regular basis.
"Street cleaning takes place in other villages as required."
KCC continued: "The MD Office is unable to expand street cleaning in the area due to the limited budget availability.
"The weekly locations listed in the response to this question are assigned by the MD Office based on what is considered required on the specific day."
KCC concluded: "As a result, the MD Office is unable to provide a more detailed schedule to include specific locations."
Cllr Balfe in turn told KCC that he accepted this report.
