The front door of a South Kildare café was damaged by burglars.

It was reported last week that the Mad Hatter Café in Castledermot was broken into by burglars.

Although they damaged the front door to the business, they did not succeed in stealing any cash from the premises.

Following the incident, the café itself posted a video on social media highlighting the damage caused by the perpetrators.

In it, an overwhelmingly large hole can be seen in what remains of the heavily cracked front door window.

Several small shards of glass can also be seen on the floor inside the café.

The video was also accompanied by the following caption: "Here we go again, there are no words.

"[We are] closed for now until we get this cleaned up.

"We’ll keep you posted."

The Mad Hatter Café concluded: "Thanks to all the kind people with offers of help."

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact Castledermot Garda Station on 059 914 4112.
