While out on patrol recently, Kildare gardaí apprehended a driver who was in possession of a fake driving licence.

The driver had no valid driving licence, had no motor insurance, and was not legally licensed to drive.

The vehicle was seized by gardai and the driver will now be summonsed to court for traffic and fraud offences.

A garda spokesperson said of the incident: “Using counterfeit documents is a criminal offence. Driving without insurance puts others at serious risk. There will be no leniency.

We will continue proactive patrols across Kildare. If you break the law, you will be detected. Keep our roads safe. Drive legally.”
