Big surprise as popular Kildare hotel is building on 16 new bedrooms

Plans for a €2.1 million extension to the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth in Co Kildare have been granted, paving the way for 16 additional guest bedrooms and expanded facilities.

The Glenroyal Hotel has approximately 138 bedrooms so the extension will see this increase to 154 bedrooms once the development is completed.

The venue, located on the Straffan Road, will see construction at third-floor level above the hotel’s existing leisure centre.

The approved works include 16 new bedrooms spanning approximately 690 square metres, alongside two new lift shafts and two stairwells to service the expanded accommodation.

The project will also include a caretaker’s unit and associated site works, forming part of a broader effort to increase capacity at the hotel.

The Glenroyal is known for its conference facilities as well as its leisure centre with swimming pool and gym.
