A local councillor has urged Kildare County Council (KCC) to carry out 'urgent' repairs to potholes which are negatively affecting a road in North Kildare.

That was the request submitted by Fianna Fáil Cllr Paul Ward at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, April 10 last.

Specifically, he motioned for KCC to 'carry out an urgent inspection and repair of numerous large potholes' along the Laragh–Branganstown Road in Kilcock.

His motion was seconded by his party colleague Cllr Daragh Fitzpatrick.

Responding to Cllr Ward's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The Municipal District office will carry out an inspection of this road and carry out any remedial works required."

"This road is on the road works programme for surface dressing this year," KCC added. "Remedial works will be carried out in advance of any surface dressing."

Following this, Cllr Ward told KCC that he welcomed the 'very positive' report, but also revealed that he had been receiving 'a lot of reports' about potholes' on the road.

"There is a huge amount of them on it," he emphasised.

A senior engineer who was representing KCC at the meeting, Cyril Buggie, replied by assuring Cllr Ward that he plans to examine the road in the near future.
