A memorial to Ryan Weir Gibbons in Kildare town
A teenager has pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of a local man in Kildare town last year.
Ryan Murphy, 19, whose address was given as Curragh Plains, Kildare town, has been charged in connection with the death of Ryan Weir Gibbons, on the outskirts of the town.
Mr Weir Gibbons died on October 30, following an assault which took place on October 10.
The defendant appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday last (April 9).
A previous court hearing was told that Mr Weir Gibbons, of Connagh Green, Cooleaghknock Glebe, Kildare town, passed away in hospital a few days after being found unresponsive at Magee Terrace, Dublin Road.

Detective Sergeant Pat Dunne told a previous court that he had arrested the accused in his family home.
Mr Murphy later appeared at Naas District Court via videolink last week in what was his second time before the court.
Sgt Ruth Coleman told the hearing that the results of a post mortem examination would not be available for approximately 14 weeks.
Mr Murphy was initially remanded in custody with the Judge advising him that if he is granted bail in the meantime, he must attend court in person on a subsequent date.
The case was sent forward to the circuit court.
