A rugby club based in South Kildare has been congratulated by local representatives on its recent victory.
Athy Rugby Club managed to secure its seventh-ever Bank of Ireland Provincial Towns Cup title in Edenderry on Sunday, April 19 last.
In response, the victory was praised by councillors present at the latest Athy Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Monday, April 20.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Brian Dooley called attention to the club's recent success as the meeting came to a close, and his sentiments were echoed by his colleagues.
Furthermore, the Mayor of the MD, Fine Gael Cllr Ivan Keatley, said: "It is extraordinary to see how far-reaching the club has been within the MD.
"It is a massive achievement to retain the Cup," he added. "We look forward to celebrating with them in the coming weeks ahead."
