Naas Courthouse
A claim that an elderly man is denying his wife food was made at Naas District Court.
His wife, accompanied by two family members, sought court protection and struggled to hear the proceedings.
She is also not fully mobile. Both parties are aged in their 80s.
The woman said her husband has been abusing her and in a statement to the court in advance of the hearing she alleged she has endured physical and mental abuse.
The court was told she is unable to walk unaided and is house bound.

She relies on her family to prepare food.
It was further claimed that when family members complained to him about his behaviour he became aggressive.
She said she had to summon the gardaí and lives “in constant fear.”
Judge Desmond Zaidan granted an interim protection order and adjourned the case to November 9.
