There is a need for more parking spaces in town centres across County Kildare.
Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle said much discussion within Kildare County Council revolves around the primacy or importance of enhancing town centres but there she called for a "responsible ratio of parking spaces” relative to the population.
Cllr Doyle said this is important for businesses owners who KCC are "happy to collect rates from.”
Cllr Doyle told a KCC meeting that town businesses are adversely impacted if there are not enough places for customers to park.
Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender said he lives in a town centre where "most people (living there) do not have access to parking.”
