A woman claimed that an assault by her partner almost resulted in an emergency C-section.
She further alleged, at Naas District Court, that she was 34 weeks pregnant at the time.
The women came to court seeking protection under family law legislation, claiming that the partner “is a very evil man” who is very aggressive around the child.
The man is the child’s father and she alleged in a statement that she experienced emotional, physical and sexual assault and “he used to hit me when I was pregnant.”
She said the man was shouting in the child’s presence and they separated when the child was an infant.

“He has little or no contact with the child; he doesn’t want the child, he only wants me,” she told Judge Desmond Zaidan, adding she had been with him for about three years.
“He wouldn't give me money for maintenance but he wanted to get back with me.”
She further claimed the man’s sisters broke a sitting room window at her home and he had broken a light switch and a hoover. The man was not present or represented.
Judge Zaidan advised her to go for help to "get the strength to break up and move on.”
He added: “You made serious allegations against this man, you need help and you need to move on.”
He added she should not “put up with that from any human being.” He added this was necessary not just for her but for the child.
He granted her an intercom protection order and initially adjourned the matter. He also advised to contact a domestic violence support service, which will help her confidentially.
