KILDARE ANIMALS IN NEED: Looking to adopt a cat or kitten this year

Are you looking to adopt a cat or a kitten?

Anyone wishing to adopt a cat or a kitten should make an appointment to visit the KWWSPCA Animal Shelter near Athgarvan (W12 EV60)by texting 089 4588162.

Some of the cats and kittens who are looking for new homes will be there, and you can talk to our team of cat volunteers about what sort of cat you are looking for.

There is a €100 adoption fee, but the cat will be vaccinated, microchipped, neutered if old enough, and be treated for worms and fleas.

Jett is one of the KWWSPCA kittens that is looking for his forever home. The TNR Group will be starting its work again soon.

Some of the KWWSPCA volunteers are dedicated to their TNR work. This involves the trapping, neutering and return of feral cats.

These cats live a wild life, sometimes being fed by concerned cat lovers, but often having to scavenge for food and a safe place to live.

Many of the kittens born into this life die young from starvation, road accidents and attacks from adult cats and dogs.

The KWWSPCA TNR volunteers help to control the number of feral cats by reducing the number of kittens being born.

In 2022 just over 400 feral cats were trapped, neutered and mostly returned to where they were found, while a few that were tame enough were re-homed as domestic pets.

If you need help with feral cats in your area, please call or text the cat helpline on 089 4588162.

We do ask for a contribution towards the costs involved but this is negotiable.
