Kildare Co Council seeking contractor for project worth €2m at Athy Heritage Centre

Kildare County Council is currently seeking tenders through an open procedure for the alterations and extension of Athy Heritage Centre to provide for the Shackleton Museum and exhibition spaces.

Works at the facility on Emily Square include reconfiguration, refurbishment and extension of the existing, protected three-storey building.

Also planned is a two-storey glass and steel extension to the south of building by a specialist designer and sub-contractor.

Internal re-configuration will include the removal of a mezzanine, a lift and two stairways.

The budget for the works is around €2m according to tender documents on the Construction Information Service database.

The duration of the works is estaimated at 24 months.
