DSPCA seeking public's assistance to find ‘terrified’ mother dog on Kildare-Dublin border

The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) is seeking the public's assistance in finding a mother dog on the Kildare-Dublin border.

The group wishes to find a 'terrified' mother dog, after they rescued her pups from a ditch in Lucan, County Dublin.

Six small pups, all of whom are around three months old, were discovered hidden in the ditch surrounded by heavy brambles in an industrial estate just off a main road in the west Dublin area.

The puppies were caught and rescued over a period of a week, but unfortunately the mother dog, who was terrified, ran away and has yet to be located safely.

The head of education and media at the DSPCA, Gillian Bird, told the Leinster Leader: "All of the rescued puppies have been treated for Parvovirus, which damages a dog's guts and can sometimes be fatal.

"Thankfully, following veterinary care at the DSPCA Shelter all six puppies are doing well. 

"They are currently in foster Homes for socialisation and will be available for rehoming in the coming weeks."

Ms Bird added: "The DSPCA and South Dublin County Council have been out looking for the mother, and have urged the public to get in touch if she is spotted."
