Planning permission documents lodged with Kildare County Council (KCC) show that a 16-bed site has been proposed for Athy.
Homeless accommodation provider Teach Íosa has applied for consent from KCC for the development at Teach Íosa, Carlow Road, Athy.
Specifically, the proposed development would consist of the refurbishment and alterations of the existing three-storey over basement building, to include the reinstatement of the two-storey return.
Permission is also being sought for the conversion of existing shared accommodation to form 16 self-contained en-suite bedroom units, with communal and independent catering facilities, in addition to the provision of all associated site development works.
The date received is listed as January 25, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as February 28 and March 21 respectively.
According to the company information website vision-net.ie, Teach Íosa was established in 1993.
It has an address listed as Mount Offaly House, Carlow Road, Athy.
