A man who drove through a road at a dangerous junction without stopping was prosecuted at Naas District Court.
The man who was a juvenile at the time was stopped in Blessington on July 16, 2018.
The court heard that he gave a false name and had no insurance.
The court also heard that he had a previous conviction and had six convictions for no insurance subsequently as well as one for dangerous driving.
Barrister Aisling Murphy said he was aged 16 or 17 at the time and is currently disqualified.
She also said he had served a prison sentence and has a suspended sentence “hanging over him.”
“This is appalling,” commented Judge Desmond Zaidan.
He disqualified him from driving for 12 years and fined him €500 for driving without insurance.
A €500 fine was imposed for careless driving.
