Laois Gardai reunited a Monasterevin resident with her stolen car containing sentimental items including a blanket she was sewing for a family wedding.

The theft of the car and its contents was highlighted when the owner appeared on RTE’s Liveline.

“Recently Martina was talking to Joe Duffy on  RTE Live Line about her car which had been stolen. The car was subsequently recovered in County Laois along with the beautiful quilt she had made and "Susie" the sewing machine,” Laois Offaly Gardai said.

Gardai said the car was stolen from Monasterevin in Kildare on Tuesday, March 7.

“After the incident was reported to Gardaí on Wednesday 8th March 2023, Gardaí in Monasterevin commenced an investigation where it was discovered the stolen vehicle left in the direction of Portlaoise/Portarlington,” said Gardai.
