Two women who admitted to shoplifting from a number of shops in Kildare Village Retail Outlet received hefty fines.
The fines were imposed on Rebeka Oszlacs, a 26-year-old with an address listed as 15 Burnell Square, Malahide Road, Northern Cross, Dublin 17, County Dublin, and 39-year-old Tatiana Proskupeqkova, with an address listed as 44 Whately Place, Stillorgan, Dublin.
The duo pleaded guilty to the offences at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 16.
Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan on a preious court date that the pair stole products totalling €1,016.05 on April 12, 2021.
Barrister Gregory Murphy told Judge Zaidan that both women were single mothers who had no previous convictions.
Mr Murphy also pointed to the guilty pleas submitted by both women.
He added that both women were apologetic over their actions, and even offered a sum of money as a gesture of their remorse.
Mr Murphy also said that the offences were opportunistic, rather than planned, as the duo did not use any de-tagging equipment to aid them.
In addition, he said that all items were recovered.
Imposing his verdict, Judge Zaidan decided not to impose a custodial sentence, and instead fined both women €2,500, and gave them three months to pay the fines.
