The court was told that the 30-year-old was caught driving without valid insurance by gardaí at Rosetown, Oldtown in Kildare on June 19, 2020.

Mr Thackaberry pleaded guilty to the offence, and it was heard that he co-operated with gardaí at the time of the offence.

He has 57 previous convictions, 16 of which are for road traffic offences.

Five of these road traffic offences are for driving with no insurance.

It was heard that he is due to be released from prison next month.

He also imposed a four-year driving disqualification on him, in addition to a fine of €400.
