Ireland’s first new plant production nursery in 20 years opens in Celbridge, Co Kildare

The Plant Collector is the first plant production nursery to open in Ireland in 20 years. Based in Celbridge, Co Kildare the 6-acre site is abound with over 4,000 species of top-quality mature trees, plants, climbers, domes, and shrubs.  The new garden centre is a treat to visit as customers are brought into a sanctuary of mature trees sourced from the finest growers in Europe and a wide selection of home-grown specimen plants. 

Horticulturist and owner Dermot Kerins said, “We are proud to launch the Plant Collector showcasing the best of locally grown plant produce and hand-picked mature trees some of which are up to 70 years old.  Our new venture is designed to give customers a full service in plant sourcing, design, and landscaping. The Plant Collector is a culmination of years of work, offering customers a diverse range of plants, shrubs, hedging and trees direct from the grower. I hope that our new venture will give a real Wow factor to our customers and inspiration to those wishing to create or redesign their existing garden.”

The mature trees have been sourced due their maturity, unique characteristics and excellent preformance in Irish weather and soil conditions. The Plant Collector is open 7 days a week and for anyone interested in submerging themselves into an oasis of calm in a busy suburb, it is definitely worth a visit.
